Hi Brittany, very good and inspiring plan. I built it with some modifications of my own, and about a quarter of it is reclaimed or repurposed wood. Mine’s the same depth but 8′ long and with roof 9′ long as shingles come in 3′ lengths. I went up a foot higher than yours and reversed the slope of the roof as mine is next to garage wall. Also, I used deck screws instead of nails and handled the footings a little differently. I’d send you pics but don’t see how to. Recommendation: tell folks to make their cuts in the tallest 4×4 before assembling the shed; much easier and safer that way. Regards, Wayne .
One of the easiest ways to roof a shed or small structure is to use corrugated roofing sheets. At 4′ x 6’7″, it’s easier to cover a larger area in just a few minutes. You can use metal or asphalt based corrugated sheets. (I used asphalt sheets from Lowe’s for my shed. For more specific and detailed installation guidelines, check with the manufacturer of your roofing sheet.)

You may have been told that important documents like social security cards, passports, birth and marriage certificates, and other difficult-to-replace papers that can be damaged by moisture should be stored in a waterproof and fireproof safe. Keeping that safe in your home office or bedroom is much safer than storing it in your backyard shed. Sure, it may be "out of the way," but it's more vulnerable.
